Structured OJT Trainer System

Internationally acclaimed as the best, most effective, and most economical OJT program presently available, our system will enable you to establish and maintain your own OJT program such that your OJT trainers can generate error-free work performance.

Your trainers are taught both instructional and development skills as they are led through practice exercises with “transparent” content to learn the OJT process. They then proceed to teach the content and skills needed by your employees.

Your trainers will also learn how to perform task analyses and how to convert them electronically to performance checklists, training handouts, and lesson plans, using our proprietary “Show-Tell System” software.

How the system works:

1. It begins with our delivery of the Train-the-Trainer Course, during which selected training staff members learn to be OJT Trainer-Trainers.

2. Using the Instructor Selection Test ®, your newly certified Trainer-Trainers identify subject-matter experts with potential to be excellent OJT trainers.

3. Your Trainer-Trainers then teach the OJT Trainer Course to your selected experts, who become OJT trainers.

4. The new OJT trainers begin to train your employees and can continue to do so indefinitely.

5. Your Trainer-Trainers continue to deliver the OJT Trainer Course indefinitely, producing qualified OJT trainers whenever you need them.

6. Your Trainer-Trainers set up and manage your OJT system with metrics and documentation that support ISO 9000 and quality control programs.


Why is structured OJT so much better than informal OJT?

  • New employees will learn their jobs somehow. If the only way the have to learn is from their peers, they are more apt to learn the wrong techniques, produce more waste, and make safety errors, lose customers, and in many other ways, cost your company money.
  • Studies show that employees who are trained with structured OJT require only 20% as long to achieve mastery as those in informal OJT. The 80% difference is time your employees can spend being productive.
  • Studies also show that structured OJT is only half as expensive as informal OJT in terms of supervisor’s time, and reduced output and quality.
  • Informal OJT is unplanned, un-evaluated, un-documented, and un-supportive of quality and ISO programs.
  • Structured OJT is planned, prioritized, and scheduled. Trainers are trained; trainees learn quickly and correctly, and are evaluated; And, the results are documented, so quality and ISO programs are supported.
